Cards Roll To Win Over Pirates

Matt Adams went 3-for-5 with a pair of RBI to lead the Cardinals to a 5-2 win over the Pirates at Busch Stadium. Kolten Wong belted a solo shot. Matt Holliday and Jhonny Peralta each drove in a run as St. Louis won its third straight. Lance Lynn improved to 10-and-6 after throwing six-and-two-thirds innings of two-run ball and Trevor Rosenthal picked up the save. The Cards wrap up their four-game set with the Pirates tonight at 6:15.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Junior Basketball Player Hailey Diestelkamp with the Owensville Dutchgirls. She recently became the all-time scoring leader at Owensville High School surpassing Katie Davis. Hailey played volleyball her first two years of high school, but after suffering an injury playing basketball last summer, she decided to focus on basketball this year. Hailey runs track in the spring.

Saint Louis erased a nine-point second half deficit and had a shot to win it late, but fell 60-56 against UMass Saturday in a thrilling Atlantic 10 Conference game at Chaifetz Arena. It was the fourth loss in a row for the Billikens, who fall to 9-12 overall and 1-7 in league play. UMass improves to 12-9 overall and 5-3 in the A-10. The Billikens had the ball down by two with the shot clock off.
