Cards Pound Reds

The Cardinals offense exploded for 13 runs for a second straight night as they destroyed the Reds 13-3 in the first of three at Great American Ball Park. St. Louis was coming off a 13-0 win over the Pirates. Daniel Descalso left the yard twice, while David Freese drove in four and Allen Craig and John Jay each had three RBI. Craig hit his 11th homer of the season. Shelby Miller improved to 11-and-7 striking out eight and allowing three runs over five innings. The Cards have won two in-a-row since ending a seven-game losing streak. Bronson Arroyo was lit up for seven runs and didn't make it out of the fourth inning to take the loss for the Reds. Joey Votto drove in all three runs courtesy of a three-run homer. Cincinnati has lost six of seven.
