Cards Host Reds In Key Division Series

The Cardinals look to out some distance between themselves and the Cincinnati Reds when the teams open a series tonight at Busch Stadium. The Reds are two-and-a-half games behind the Cardinals for first place in the NL Central division. The Cards are tied with the Pirates for the top spot with a 76-and-54 record.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Gus Kleekamp with the Washington Junior Legion Baseball Team. Gus played shortstop and occasionally pitched during the season. His numbers are impressive. Batting average .409, on-base percentage .504 with a slugging percentage of .582. Gus lead the team not only with his average but also in RBI with 26, triples with five and stolen bases with 28.

Jake Long and William Hayes took the field, which was the first time the projected starting offensive line worked together.
