Cards Get Shut Out By Giants

Marco Gonzalez got rocked for five runs in four-and-a-third as the Cardinals got shut out by the Giants 5-0 at AT&T Park. Gonzalez fell to 0-and-1 with the loss as St. Louis lost its third straight. Yadier Molina and Matt Carpenter each went 1-for-3 in the team's five-hit effort. The Cards play their second of three against the Giants tonight at 9:15.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Senior Baseball Player Kyle Ruediger from New Haven High School. At the plate, Kyle has a team leading .486 average with 14 rbi, two triples and six doubles. He has struck out just five times while drawing 11 walks. Kyle also has seven stolen bases on the year. He plans to attend the University of Missouri-Columbia.

Early Thursday morning, I received news that vandals had broken in to St. Francis Borgia Grade School in Washington, causing extensive damage to several classrooms and offices. School was closed for the day as the Washington Police Department went about their business of securing what had changed from a school community to a crime scene overnight.
