Cards Double Up Reds In Rubber Match

Matt Carpenter singled in the go-ahead score to ignite a three-run sixth inning as the Cardinals beat the Reds, 4-2. Pete Kozma and Daniel Descalso also singled in runs in the frame for St. Louis, which took the final two of the three-game series at Busch Stadium. Carlos Beltran hit his seventh home run of the year for the Redbirds. Lance Lynn pitched seven innings of one-run ball to improve to 5-and-0. Edward Mujica posted his sixth save. The Cards and Brewers continue the four-game series tonight.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Washington Senior Softball Player Megan Freitag. Megan is a four year starter in center field and is rock solid with the glove as she made several diving catches throughout her career. Megan is also good with the bat. She hit third in the lineup and finished as the career leader in home runs at Washington High School with 10. She has always been a very good student maintaining an "A" average.

When people threaten violence or blankly label one as a racist, it's very hard to listen. The same holds true for those who sum up the plight of impoverished black communities as "that's how those people are."

Sami Vatanen scored two power play goals helping the Ducks grab a 3-0 win over the Blues at the Honda Center. St. Louis outshot the Ducks 28-to-25 despite the loss. Brian Elliot allowed all three goals for the Blues, who are 2-2-and-1. The Blues return home Thursday to host the Canucks.
