Cards Double Up Brewers

Matt Holliday singled in a pair of runs in the opening inning to help the Cardinals beat the Brewers, 4-2, at Busch Stadium. Yadier Molina went 3-for-4 with an RBI and Matt Carpenter doubled in a run to help St. Louis get back above .500 for the first time since Opening Day. Lance Lynn tossed five innings of one-run ball to pick up the win and Trevor Rosenthal closed it out for his third save.

The Cardinals and Brewers close out their three-game series with a day game today. John Lackey is slated to start for St. Louis, while Mike Fiers takes the hill for Milwaukee. First pitch is at 12:45 p.m. After today, the Cards host the Reds for three games starting tomorrow.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Senior Running Back Jared Rennick of the Washington Blue Jays. Jared carried the ball 35 times for 393 yards and a state record nine touchdowns in Friday's 84-57 win over the Holt Indians. For the season, Jared has carried the ball 188 times for 1502 yards, averaging eight yards per carry.
