Cards Bring Back Taveras

The Cardinals recalled right fielder Oscar Taveras from Triple-A Memphis yesterday. Taveras made his major league debut earlier this season but was sent back to Memphis after batting .189 in 40 at-bats. The 22-year-old has dominated Triple-A ball this season however, batting .318 with eight homers and 49 RBI. To make room for Taveras, St. Louis optioned right-hander Jorge Rondon back to Memphis.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Senior Legion Baseball Player Spencer Juergens from Washington Post 218. As a pitcher, Spencer is currently 7-0 with 36 strike outs and only four walks. He's given up seven runs, three earned over 43 innings and his ERA is .736. As a hitter, Spencer's average is .520 with 16 rbi's and 13 runs scored. In 44 official at bats, Spencer has struck out just five times with two walks.

Over the course of the past 16 years doing commentary on air and in print, there have sadly been many mass shootings and many predictable politicized reactions.

The shootings at Emmanuel AME Church in Charleston, South Carolina, however, stands out for two main reasons.

It involved race, and it was done it a church.
