Cardinals Use Longball In Win Over Diamondbacks

Matt Holliday, Pete Kozma and John Jay hit home runs to lead the Cardinals over the Diamondbacks, 6-1. Starting pitcher Jaime Garcia pitched five and two-thirds innings and allowed a run on two hits with four strikeouts. Three relievers combined to shut out Arizona over the last three and one-third innings. The two teams have split the first two games of the series with the Cardinals' Lance Lynn facing Arizona's Brandon McCarthy tonight.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Freshman Cross Country Runner Julia McIntyre from New Haven High School. Julia finished sixth in the state meet in Jefferson City with a time of 20:58.40 at the Oak Hills Golf Course in Jefferson City earlier this month. She helped her team to a 12th place finish. Julia was a straight A student at Franklin County R-2 and she continues to get A's in high school.
