Cardinals Suffer Rare Series Loss

Ricky Nolasco and three relievers combined on a five-hitter as the Marlins beat the Cardinals 7-2 in Miami. Nolasco allowed just three hits and one run over seven innings for the win as Miami took two-of-three at Marlins Park. It was the Cardinals' first series loss since late April against Pittsburgh. Jon Jay and Matt Adams drove in runs for the Redbirds in defeat.

Three regulars were missing from the Cardinals' lineup Sunday against the Marlins. Manager Mike Matheny elected to give catcher Yadier Molina, outfielder Matt Holliday and shortstop Pete Kozma the day off. The skipper says it was just to give them each a breather. Tony Cruz, Matt Adams and Daniel Descalso started in their place.

There are few things more inspiring in life than watching an octogenarain with two hip replacements swimming a 200 yard race, or guys in their late 70's playing some pretty vigorous 3 on 3 basketball. A generation of baby boomers is learning that, while they can't reverse age, they certainly can embrace life!
