Cardinals Sign Shortstop Peralta

The Cardinals will have a new shortstop next season. The club signed former Detroit shortstop Jhonny Peralta to a four-year contract worth more than 50 million dollars, according to the "St. Louis Post Dispatch." The two-time All-Star batted .303 with 11 home runs in 107 games for the Tigers in 2013. Peralta was suspended 50 games in the aftermath of the Biogenesis performance-enhancing drug investigation.
