Cardinals Roll Pirates

Matt Holliday and David Freese drove in two runs each to lead the Cardinals to a 7-2 win over the Pirates at PNC Park. Allen Craig, Matt Carpenter and Yadier Molina had two hits apiece. Joe Kelly allowed a run on four hits and struck out five to improve to 7-and-3. The Cardinals moved into a tie for first place with the Pirates in the NL Central. Marlon Byrd and John Buck drove in the Pirates' runs. Kris Johnson lasted only two innings and took the loss to fall to 0-and-2.

Adam Wainwright has a chance to keep his St. Louis Cardinals in first place, but must rebound against the club that battered him around last week in the shortest start of his career. Wainwright squares off again on Monday afternoon against the Cincinnati Reds
in the opener of a four-game series.
