Cardinals' Molina Out 8-to-12 Weeks With Torn Thumb Ligament

The St. Louis Cardinals may be without All-Star catcher Yadier Molina for the rest of the season. The Redbirds say he suffered a torn thumb ligament sliding into third base in Wednesday's game against Pittsburgh and will miss eight-to-12 weeks following surgery. The 31-year-old is batting .287 with seven home runs and 30 RBI this season. Without Molina, the Cards are left with Tony Cruz and Audry Perez behind the plate.
