Cardinals Host Braves Tonight

The Cardinals continue their homestand tonight as the Atlanta Braves come to town. Lance Lynn takes the mound for St. Louis in the opener of the three-game series. He's 4-and-2 with a 3.83 ERA. The Braves counter with Ervin Santana, who is 4-and-0 with a 1.99 ERA thus far.

Pitcher Michael Wacha singled in two runs in a four-run second inning and the Cardinals held on to beat the Cubs 5-3 at Busch Stadium. Wacha pitched seven innings of two-run ball for his third win and Trevor Rosenthal got the final five outs to notch his 11th save.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Junior Running Back/Defensive Back Jonathan Braun with the St. Francis Borgia Knight Football Team. Braun ran the ball 21 times for 195 yards and two touchdowns in Friday night's 31-19 win over the Union Wildcats, averaging 9.3 yards per carry. He also plays defensive back where he made one tackle.

It is the aftermath of that event, however, which history will forever remember. The protesters, the looters, the agitators, the Hands Up Don't Shoot movement, the dramatic announcement of the grand jury, the buildings up in flames. In the process, the community and image of Ferguson was destroyed.

The Cardinals are back home tonight to open a nine-game homestand at Busch Stadium. They host the Nationals in the first of three games at 7:15 p.m. John Lackey is slated to oppose Washington's Gio Gonzalez. The Cards also play the Pirates and Cubs on this homestand.
