Cardinals Drop Braves

Matt Carpenter went 2-for-4 with two RBI as the Cardinals edged the Braves 4-3 in Atlanta last night. Shelby Miller allowed two runs over five innings to improve to 4-and-2 while Trevor Rosenthal survived a scare in the ninth for his ninth save. St. Louis has won three out of five.

The Cardinals continue their three-game series with the Braves in Atlanta tonight. Tyler Lyons takes the mound for St. Louis looking for his first win against two losses. The Braves counter with Gavin Floyd, who's making his 2014 debut. First pitch from Turner Field is set for 6:10.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is State Champion Wrestler Dalton Voyles from Pacific High School. Dalton won the class 3 title at 182 pounds with a 6-2 decision over Zach Courtoise of Kearney Saturday at the University of Missouri-Columbia. It caps off a tremendous season for Dalton with a 56-2 record. Dalton, who is very good on his feet, took control early in the bout in securing the win over Courtoise.

Paul Stastny netted the game-winner with 5:40 to play to give the Blues a 2-1 win over the Oilers at Rexall Place. Dmitrij Jaskin found the back of the net as well and Brian Elliot had 21 saves. The victory was St. Louis's fourth straight on the road. Ben Scrivens gave up both goals on 27 shots for Edmonton, which has dropped five of its last seven. Justin Schultz scored the Oilers' lone goal in the loss.
