Cardinals Crushed By Braves

Julio Teheran did not allow a hit over five innings as the Braves blasted the Cardinals 12-3 in Grapefruit League play. Evan Gattis drove in three runs for Atlanta. Cardinals starter Jake Westbrook allowed two runs in four innings. Justin Christian tripled in two runs for St. Louis. The Cardinals and Braves meet again today in Jupiter.

The Cardinals trimmed three more players from their roster after Tuesday's game against the Braves. Pitcher Kevin Siegrist was optioned to Triple-A Memphis, pitcher Barrett Browing was reassigned to Triple-A Memphis and catcher Cody Stanley was reassigned to Double-A Springfield. The Cards have 48 players left in camp.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Seth Schenck. The New Haven Junior won the state title in the the 800 meter run at Lincoln University in Jefferson City. His time of 1:59.20 set a new school record. Seth also took second in the 1600 meter run with a time of 4:30.49 and anchored the 4X800 relay team that captured seventh place. Seth also played basketball and ran cross country in his junior year at New Haven.

Lance Lynn tossed six scoreless frames to guide the St. Louis Cardinals to a 7-0 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers in the opener of a three-game set. Lynn gave up just two hits and struck out nine to pick up the win. David Freese went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer and three RBI and Allen Craig added a pair of hits, including a solo homer, and drove in three for the Cardinals, winners in four of their last five games.
