Cardinals Close Out Padres

The Cardinals used a three-run first featuring an RBI triple from Matt Holliday to close out the Padres 5-3 and win the three-game series. Allen Craig and Yadier Molina each drove in a run with a single for St. Louis, which has won three-of-four. Tyler Lyons gave up one run over seven inning to win win his first-ever major league start. Jedd Gyorko hit a solo homer for San Diego. Burch Smith allowed four runs in one-plus innings for the loss.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is State Champion Wrestler Dalton Voyles from Pacific High School. Dalton won the class 3 title at 182 pounds with a 6-2 decision over Zach Courtoise of Kearney Saturday at the University of Missouri-Columbia. It caps off a tremendous season for Dalton with a 56-2 record. Dalton, who is very good on his feet, took control early in the bout in securing the win over Courtoise.

Paul Stastny netted the game-winner with 5:40 to play to give the Blues a 2-1 win over the Oilers at Rexall Place. Dmitrij Jaskin found the back of the net as well and Brian Elliot had 21 saves. The victory was St. Louis's fourth straight on the road. Ben Scrivens gave up both goals on 27 shots for Edmonton, which has dropped five of its last seven. Justin Schultz scored the Oilers' lone goal in the loss.
