Cardinals Clip Dodgers

Matt Carpenter hit an RBI single in the seventh to give the Cardinals the lead as they defeated the Dodgers, 5-3. Shelby Miller tossed five-and-a-third innings of three-run ball for the Cardinals, who have won four-of-five. Seth Maness picked up the win while Edward Mujica secured his 14th save. The Cards open a series at Kansas City this afternoon.

Starting pitcher John Gast was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a left shoulder strain before Sunday's game. Also, outfielder Carlos Beltran missed the game due to left shoulder soreness but could be back for the Kansas City series that starts today.
