Cardinals Clip Brewers

Kolten Wong hit a homer and knocked in three runs as the Cardinals topped the Brewers 9-7 from Busch Stadium. Oscar Taveras drove in two runs for St. Louis, which has won two of three. Jhonny Peralta also went deep in the win. Justin Masterson picked up the win in his debut for the Cards. He gave up five runs in six innings. Kyle Lohse allowed nine runs in four-plus frames for the loss. Ryan Braun and Scooter Gennett each plated two runs for Milwaukee, which had won two in-a-row.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Senior Baseball Player Kyle Ruediger from New Haven High School. At the plate, Kyle has a team leading .486 average with 14 rbi, two triples and six doubles. He has struck out just five times while drawing 11 walks. Kyle has seven stolen bases on the year. He plans to attend the University of Missouri-Columbia.

Early Thursday morning, I received news that vandals had broken in to St. Francis Borgia Grade School in Washington, causing extensive damage to several classrooms and offices. School was closed for the day as the Washington Police Department went about their business of securing what had changed from a school community to a crime scene overnight.

Mark Reynolds went 2-for-3 with a first-inning grand slam and Tony Cruz belted a two-run double to give St. Louis the lead in the seventh. Kolten Wong went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI for the Cards, who are off to their best start since 1900 at 19-and-6. Miguel Socolovich picked up the win.
