Cardinals To Appear Twice On Sunday Night

The Cardinals were selected for a pair of ESPN Sunday Night Baseball telecasts in the first half of the season. Both are on the road. They will play the Philadelphia Phillies on April 21st and the Chicago Cubs on July 14th. That's the final game of the first half of the season heading into the All-Star break.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Washington Senior Legion Baseball Player Trent Leimkuehler. Trent has put up some impressive numbers so far this season. The Post 218 Center fielder is currently hitting .551 with 20 runs batted in and 16 runs scored. He has two home runs, two triples and eight doubles. He also plays good defense in the outfield with good speed and a strong arm.

The Washington Wood Bat Tournament gets underway today. Washington will play two games back to back at St. Francis Borgia Regional High School. Manchester is the first opponent at 1:00 followed by a match up with Thoman Boothe at 3:30. Our next broadcast game is Friday evening when Washington plays Dunklin County at 7:30 at Ronsick Field. Post 218 is 12-3 going into the tournament which will run through Sunday evening.
