Brewers Top Cardinals

The Brewers jumped out to a 7-0 lead and held on for a 7-4 win over the Cardinals at Busch Stadium. Aramis Ramirez hit a solo shot in the win while Jonathan Lucroy hit a bases clearing double. Ryan Braun added two RBI for the Brewers, who have won two straight. Wily Peralta earned his 13th win with two-run ball over six-and-two-thirds innings and Francisco Rodriguez earned his 32nd save. Adam Wainwright lasted just five-and-a-third-innings and allowed seven runs for the loss. Matt Carpenter tripled and drove in three and Matt Holliday went deep as the Cardinals dropped their third contest in the last four.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Freshman Cross Country Runner Julia McIntyre from New Haven High School. Julia finished sixth in the state meet in Jefferson City with a time of 20:58.40 at the Oak Hills Golf Course in Jefferson City earlier this month. She helped her team to a 12th place finish. Julia was a straight A student at Franklin County R-2 and she continues to get A's in high school.

Alex Collins ran for 130 yards and three touchdowns as the Missouri Tigers fell to Arkansas, 28-3, Friday afternoon at Reynolds Razorback Stadium. The defense for Mizzou could have hardly started any better, as they allowed positive yardage on just one of Arkansas' first eight plays. In all, five of those eight plays went for negative yardage, including a Ricky Hatley sack to give the defense two three-and-outs to start the game.
