Braves Beat Cards To Avoid Four-Game Sweep

Andrelton Simmons homered to back seven solid innings from Mike Minor, as the Braves beat the Cardinals 5-2 to avoid a four-game sweep at Busch Stadium. Matt Holliday and Allen Craig plated a run each for the Redbirds, who had won their previous four. Lance Lynn allowed four runs and nine hits in seven frames as he fell to 13-and-8 with his third straight loss.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Senior Baseball Player Kyle Ruediger from New Haven High School. At the plate, Kyle has a team leading .486 average with 14 rbi, two triples and six doubles. He has struck out just five times while drawing 11 walks. Kyle has seven stolen bases on the year. He plans to attend the University of Missouri-Columbia.
