Blues Blank Preds

Brian Elliott celebrated his 28th birthday by making 15 saves for his 20th career shutout as the Blues blanked the Predators 1-0 in Nashville. Alex Steen scored the game's lone goal in the second period as St. Louis won its season-high fifth straight. The Blues are 22-14-and-2 with 46 points, good for sixth in the West with 10 games left.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Senior Swimmer Michael Matthews from St. Francis Borgia Regional High School in Washington. Michael medalled in two events at the state swim meet at the St. Peters Rec-Plex. He took 7th in the 50-Yard Freestyle and 4th in the 100-Yard Butterfly. Michael also medalled in four events in the AAA Conference meet, helping Borgia secure the conference title.

Max Pacioretty scored twice on his 26th birthday as the Canadiens cruised to a 4-1 win over the Blues at the Bell Centre. Vladimir Tarasenko scored the lone goal in the first period for St. Louis, which fell to 0-and-2 on its four-game road trip. Jake Allen allowed all four goals on 30 shots in the setback. The Blues skate in Ottawa tomorrow.
