Beltran Homer Propels Cards Past Phils

Carlos Beltran homered off Mike Adams in the top of the seventh inning as the Cardinals beat the Phillies 4-3 in Philadelphia. Yadier Molina went 3-for-4 with two RBI as the Cards improved to 9-and-6. Adam Wainwright allowed nine hits and three runs in seven innings for his third win. The Phils have lost four straight.

The Cardinals and Phillies play the second of their four-game series at Citizens Bank Park tonight. Jaime Garcia goes up against the Phils' Roy Halladay. Garcia is coming off seven shutout innings against the Brewers on Sunday in a no-decision. Halladay pitched eight innings in a 2-1 win over the Marlins on Sunday.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Senior Golfer Brad Carpenter from Washington High School. In a recent match against Fort Zumwalt South at Wolf Hollow, Brad carded a six under par 29 to lead the team to a 148-176 win over the Bulldogs. Brad will attend Missouri State University in Springfield on a golf and academic scholarship. He started playing golf at the age of 12 and developed an immediate love for the game.
