Washington Post 218 beat St. Peters 8-0 last night at the Rec-Plex. Tyler Tuepker pitched eight scoreless innings giving up three hits with six strike outs and three walks. Luke Hasenjaeger, Jack Kopmann, Noah Borgerding and Trent Leimkuehler had two hits apiece for Washington, now 3-2 overall and 3-0 in 9th District action.
St. Peters falls to 1-1 both overall and in league play. Tyler Rutledge gave up four runs through six innings to absorb the loss.

Washington is back in action this evening with a district match-up against the Central Spartans. First pitch is scheduled for 8:30 at Ronsick Field. The game will be broadcast live on KLPW-AM 1220.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Sophomore Cross Country Runner Mikayla Reed from Washington High School. Mikayla has already accumulated a lost list of accomplishments in the first couple of years of her high school career. John Lackey hurled seven-and-a-third frames of shutout ball to lift the Cardinals past the Cubs, 4-0, in Game One of their National League Division Series at Busch Stadium. Lackey struck out five batters and walked one to earn the win. Tommy Pham drilled a solo shot for the Cards, and Stephen Piscotty capped off the scoring with a two-run dinger. St. Louis now holds a 1-0 series lead.
