Adams Lifts Cards Past Reds

Matt Adams hit a go-ahead solo homer in the top of the 16th inning to lift the Cardinals past the Reds 5-4 at Great American Ball Park. Adams also hit a solo shot in the top of the 14th, but the Reds answered in the bottom of the frame. Adams came in as a replacement for Cards first baseman Allen Craig, who left in the fourth inning with a sprained left foot. Carlos Beltran and Matt Holliday also plated a run each for the Redbirds, who now trail the Pirates by just one game in the NL Central.
