Wainwright Leads Cards Past Mets

Adam Wainwright threw seven innings of four-hit ball to improve to 4-and-1 as the Cardinals downed the Mets 3-0 last night at Citi Field. He left early with an injury. Jon Jay was 2-for-4 with two RBI and Matt Holliday drove one in as well. Trevor Rosenthal got his sixth save in the victory.

Cardinals starter Adam Wainwright left last night's start against the Mets in the seventh inning with a hyperextended right knee. The "Post-Dispatch" reports that he passed strength tests after the game. He was not favoring the knee and is hopeful to make his next start.

The Cardinals and Mets continue their four-game series tonight in New York. St. Louis sends Michael Wacha and his 2-and-1 record to the mound. The Mets counter with Jonathon Niese, who is 0-and-2 on the year. First pitch from Citi Field is set for 6:10.
