Wainwright, Cards Roll Nats

Adam Wainwright tossed a two-hit shutout to guide the Cardinals to an 8-0 win over the Nationals in Washington. Wainwright struck out eight and walked three as he improved to 3-and-1. Matt Adams knocked in three runs for St. Louis, which improved to 10-and-6. Matt Holliday added two RBI for the Cards. The series continues tonight.

St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Joe Kelly is on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left hamstring. He hurt himself trying to run out a bunt in the fifth inning of Wednesday's game at Milwaukee. Kelly has allowed only one earned run in three starts so far this season. The Cardinals also optioned pitcher Keith Butler to Triple-A Memphis and recalled pitchers Eric Fornataro and Jorge Rondon from the same club.

August 9, 2014, will forever be marked in the history books as the date Michael Brown was shot by a Ferguson police officer.

It is the aftermath of that event, however, which history will forever remember. The protesters, the looters, the agitators, the Hands Up Don't Shoot movement, the dramatic announcement of the grand jury, the buildings up in flames. In the process, the community and image of Ferguson was destroyed.
