SLU Tops Butler

Surging Saint Louis continued itsimpressive stretch by knocking off its second Top-25 team of the week. Mike McCall Jr. posted 18 points and Dwayne Evans followed with 17 as the Billikens roared back with a strong second half to down 15th-ranked Butler, 65-61, on Friday at Hinkle Fieldhouse. In recording its second nine-game winning streak of the season, Saint Louis (21-5, 10-2 A-10) now stands alone atop the conference. Kwamain Mitchell added 10 of his 12 points in the second
half in the victory. The Bulldogs (22-6, 9-4) have suffered defeat twice to the Billikens during their run and have fallen into third place in the conference with Friday's loss. Kellen Dunham led Butler with 14 points --all in the first half -- while Roosevelt Jones and Rotnei Clarke each had 13 in the setback.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Washington Post 218 Senior Legion Baseball Player Aaron Meyer. Aaron is a pitcher and third basemen for the team this summer. He has hit third in the order and has maintained an average above .300 throughout the season. His current average is .321 with an on base percentage of .396. Aaron leads the team with 22 RBI, two home runs and two triples He has also scored 15 runs.

There are few things more inspiring in life than watching an octogenarain with two hip replacements swimming a 200 yard race, or guys in their late 70's playing some pretty vigorous 3 on 3 basketball. A generation of baby boomers is learning that, while they can't reverse age, they certainly can embrace life!

Matt Holliday capped a six-run comeback with a solo homer in the top of the ninth as the Cardinals topped the Brewers 7-6 from Miller Park. The Brewers took a 6-0 lead in to the third inning. Matt Adams got things going with a two-run homer in the fourth for St. Louis, which has won four of five. Kolten Wong also went deep in the win.
