The Washington Post 218 Senior Legion Invitational Tournament is underway with eight games on the schedule today...

Washington kicked off the action with a 4-1 win over Thoman Boothe at Ronsick Field. Evan Ayers pitched a complete game as Post 218 improved to 9-6. Washington will face Farmington Thursday morning at 11:00 at Borgia Regional High School.

The St. Charles/House Springs game is postponed today and is rescheduled Friday as the first game of the day at Borgia Regional High School.

Manchester/Ballwin finish tied 6-6 after eight innings. Game called after two hour time limit.

The Tournament features 16-teams with four teams in each of four pools. Washington is in Pool D with Thoman Boothe, Farmington and Mayfield, Kentucky.

The tournament will run through Sunday evening.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Junior Running Back/Defensive Back Jonathan Braun with the St. Francis Borgia Knight Football Team. Braun ran the ball 21 times for 195 yards and two touchdowns in Friday night's 31-19 win over the Union Wildcats, averaging 9.3 yards per carry. He also plays defensive back where he made one tackle.

August 9, 2014, will forever be marked in the history books as the date Michael Brown was shot by a Ferguson police officer.

It is the aftermath of that event, however, which history will forever remember. The protesters, the looters, the agitators, the Hands Up Don't Shoot movement, the dramatic announcement of the grand jury, the buildings up in flames. In the process, the community and image of Ferguson was destroyed.

The Cardinals are back home tonight to open a nine-game homestand at Busch Stadium. They host the Nationals in the first of three games at 7:15 p.m. John Lackey is slated to oppose Washington's Gio Gonzalez. The Cards also play the Pirates and Cubs on this homestand.
