Senior Legion Baseball

Spencer Juergens pitched eight scoreless innings extending his streak to 21 straight innings without giving up a run, leading Washington Post 218 to a 3-0 win over Daniel Boone at Ronsick Field last night. Juergens gave up four hits with seven strike outs and two walks as Washington improved to 7-3 overall and 5-3 in league action. Justin Shuler pitched the ninth to post his first save of the season. At the plate, Seth Bollmann walked three times and scored twice while Austin Finder had two hits with a run scored. Tanner Kulpa suffered the loss. Daniel Boone drops to 2-3 and 1-2.

Washington is back in action this evening with a road game at Warrenton. Game time is 6:00 at Warrenton High School. The game will be broadcast live on KLPW-AM 1220.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is 5-3 Senior Guard Tesla Ruediger with the Hermann Lady Bearcats. Tesla currentlly ranks fifth in the Four Rivers Conference in scoring averaging 13 points per game. She also pulls down three rebounds with three assists and three steals per outing. Tesla scored 23 points in a 66-61 loss to Harrisburg in the 3rd place game of the South Callaway Tournament Saturday afternoon.

It came as a shock to a lot of people to find out that the contract for the Union license office, which has been operated by the Union Chamber of Commerce since the 1970's, was being turned over to a for-profit company based out of Jefferson City.

What happened? It's a classic case of two all-too-common phenomena in the world of government--unintended consequences and the revolving door.
