Washington came back from a four run deficit to post a 14-4 eight inning victory over Warrenton Post 122. Warrenton scored four times in the third and held the lead until Washington woke up and scored five in the sixth. Post 218 added five more in the seventh with Noah Borgerding tripling in three. They closed it out with a four run eighth. Luke Hasenjaeger was the winning pitcher in relief of starter Zack Pointer. Washington improves to 18-3 overall and 10-0 in the 9th District. Warrenton drops to 0-9.

Washington is back in action this evening with a home game against Wentzville. First pitch is scheduled for 8:30 at Ronsick Field. It will be broadcast live on KLPW-AM 1220.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Union Post 297 Senior American Legion Baseball Player Trey Fink. Earlier this season in a game against St. Peters, Trey pitched a complete game with 11 strike outs and no walks in an 8-1 win. He also went the distance in a tough luck 6-1 loss to Washington. He only gave up four hits with 13 strike outs and one walk. Time and again, Trey has proven his ability to go deep into games.

Over the course of the past 16 years doing commentary on air and in print, there have sadly been many mass shootings and many predictable politicized reactions.

The shootings at Emmanuel AME Church in Charleston, South Carolina, however, stands out for two main reasons.

It involved race, and it was done it a church.

Local Senior Legion teams are getting ready for the trip to the 2015 Blue Springs Woodbat Tournament. Washington, Union and St. Charles will compete in the event which will run Wednesday through Sunday at the Hidden Valley Athletic Complex.
