Senior American Legion Baseball-Tuesday, June 24

Washington Post 218 is coming off an impressive showing in its own tournanment Sunday. Washington advanced to the championship game but lost to West 4-1. They will try to get back in the win column with a home game against Sullivan this evening. Washington takes a 13-7 record into the 8:30 match-up at Ronsick Field.

Our next broadcast game is Wednesday night when Washington travels to St. Peters.
8:30 first pitch at the Rec Plex on AM 1220.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Gus Kleekamp with the Washington Post 218 Junior American Legion Baseball Team. Gus pitches, plays shortstop and bats third on the Junior Legion team that won the state championship in Blue Springs over the weekend. He posted the save in a 4-3 win over Festus in the title game. His batting average is .400 with 47-rbi and 47 runs scored. As a pitcher, he's 5-0 with an ERA of 1.631 and a WHIP of .961.

The Washington Seniors came back to life with a 14-2 route of Manchester Post 208 in the loser's bracket of the state tournament in Sedalia Friday afternoon. Matt Miller pitched a complete game for the win, as Washington improved to 35-4. The victory puts Post 218 in the championship game against Fike-Blue Springs today.
