Rams waive openly gay player Michael Sam

Today is NFL cut-down day, as all 32 teams had a 4 p.m. ET deadline to trim
rosters to the 53-man limit. The big story of the day was the St. Louis Rams
deciding to waive rookie defensive end Michael Sam, who became the NFL's first
openly gay draft pick last May. Sam impressed with three Sacks in the
preseason, but fellow rookie Ethan Westbrooks beat him out for the final spot
on a talented defensive line.
