Pirates Top Cardinals

Four different Pirates collected two RBI each as they defeated the Cardinals 9-1 at Busch Stadium. Leadoff man Gregory Polanco went hitless but walked twice and scored two runs for Pittsburgh, which avoided the four-game sweep. Russell Martin was 3-for-4 with a solo homer and two RBI for the Bucs. Edinson Volquez allowed the run over nine innings to improve to 8-and-6. Shelby Miller gave up four runs in five innings for the loss. Matt Carpenter hit a sac-fly in the third for the lone St. Louis run.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is 6-0 Senior Forward Megan Jensen with the St. Francis Borgia Girls Basketball Team. Megan scored 24 points leading Borgia to a 52-47 win over Cardinal Ritter in the championship game of the Borgia/Competitive Edge Tournament Saturday afternoon. In three tournament games last week. Megan scored 63 points and earned MVP honors.

Denver Bronco fans are celebrating their team's dominating 24-10 win over the Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl 50. Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning tells ABC's "Good Morning America" he celebrated late into the night. Manning lifted the Lombardi Trophy for the second time in his career in what might have been his final game. Manning turns 40 next month and is expected to retire.
