NHL, Players' Association To Resume Talks

Talks between the NHL and the Players' Association will resume today in New York. The two sides met over the weekend at an undisclosed location and reportedly made progress towards a new collective bargaining agreement. Representatives from both sides are referring to Tuesday's talks as "make-or-break" type negotiations.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Junior Running Back/Defensive Back Jonathan Braun with the St. Francis Borgia Knight Football Team. Braun ran the ball 21 times for 195 yards and two touchdowns in Friday night's 31-19 win over the Union Wildcats, averaging 9.3 yards per carry. He also plays defensive back where he made one tackle.

The Cardinals are back home tonight to open a nine-game homestand at Busch Stadium. They host the Nationals in the first of three games at 7:15 p.m. John Lackey is slated to oppose Washington's Gio Gonzalez. The Cards also play the Pirates and Cubs on this homestand.
