NFL Scouting Combine In Progress

The NFL Scouting Combine is in progress. Players don't start drills and work outs until Saturday, but coaches and executives have addressed the media. Tight ends, offensive linemen and special teamers hit the field on Saturday, followed by quarterbacks, running backs and wideouts on Sunday. On Monday, defensive linemen and linebackers workout, and Tuesday will feature defensive backs. Illinois had four players invited to Indy, while Missouri had three.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Senior Volleyball Player Jordan Kriete from St. Francis Borgia Regional High School in Washington. Jordan played all the way around on a team that finished the season 26-7-2. Her statistics are impressive.

When people threaten violence or blankly label one as a racist, it's very hard to listen. The same holds true for those who sum up the plight of impoverished black communities as "that's how those people are."

The St. Louis Cardinals are exercising the 2015 option on pitcher John Lackey. The 36-year-old right-hander will earn the league minimum 500-thousand-dollars after making 15.25-million each of the last three seasons. Lackey was acquired from Boston at the trade deadline and his contract had a clause allowing for a league-minimum option after missing the entire 2012 season due to elbow surgery.
