NFL Playoffs

LeGarrette Blount rushed for 166 yards and a franchise-record four touchdowns, and the New England Patriots gained their third straight spot in the AFC title game with a 43-22 victory over the Indianapolis Colts. The Patriots are the first team since the 2001-04 Philadelphia Eagles to go to at least three consecutive conference championship games. Tom Brady completed 13-of-25 passes for 198 yards, but was held without a touchdown pass.

Marshawn Lynch rushed for 140 yards and a pair of touchdowns as the Seahawks held off the Saints 23-15 in their NFC Divisional Round game at CenturyLink Field. Russell Wilson was 9-of-18 with 103 yards for Seattle, which will host San Francisco or Carolina in the NFC Championship Game next weekend. The Seahawks jumped out to a 16-0 lead heading into the fourth quarter. Drew Brees threw for 309 yards and a late touchdown to Marques Colston, who ended with 11 catches and 144 yards in the loss.

The junior legion state tournament gets underway today in Jackson with two games. Springfield-Glendale will go up against host Jackson at 3:00, followed by Sedalia and Eureka at 5:30. Washington will see action Friday at 12:00 against the winner of the Springfield/Jackson game. The double elimination tournament will run through the weekend.
