NCAA Tournament Kicks Off

The first two games of the First Four of the NCAA Tournament took place last night in Dayton, Ohio. Albany opened the action with a 71-64 win over Mount Saint Mary's to advance to play Florida in the South Region. Fifth-seeded Saint Louis will get to play NC State, which beat Xavier, 74-59. Tonight, Cal Poly and Texas Southern play for the right to face Wichita State, while UMass awaits the winner of Iowa and Tennessee.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Senior Legion Baseball Player Spencer Juergens from Washington Post 218. As a pitcher, Spencer is currently 7-0 with 36 strike outs and only four walks. He's given up seven runs, three earned over 43 innings and his ERA is .736. As a hitter, Spencer's average is .520 with 16 rbi's and 13 runs scored. In 44 official at bats, Spencer has struck out just five times with two walks.

The shootings at Emmanuel AME Church in Charleston, South Carolina, however, stands out for two main reasons.

It involved race, and it was done it a church.
