MLB Draft Continues

The Cardinals picked up four new players following the first day of the MLB First-Year Player Draft. The Cards took right-hander Luke Weaver from Florida State with the 27th pick. He was the first of four right-handers taken by St. Louis. The Cubs took Indiana catcher Kyle Schwarber fourth overall. The draft continues with rounds three through 10 today and 11 through 40 tomorrow.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Senior Legion Baseball Player Spencer Juergens from Washington Post 218. As a pitcher, Spencer is currently 6-0 with 32 strike outs and only four walks. He's given up seven runs, three earned over 36 innings and his ERA is .736. As a hitter, Spencer's average is .500 with 14 rbi's and 11 runs scored. In 44 official at bats, Spencer has struck out just five times with two walks.

Over the course of the past 16 years doing commentary on air and in print, there have sadly been many mass shootings and many predictable politicized reactions.

The shootings at Emmanuel AME Church in Charleston, South Carolina, however, stands out for two main reasons.

It involved race, and it was done it a church.
