Marlins Clip Cardinals

Giancarlo Stanton blasted a pair of home runs and totaled three RBI to lead the Marlins to a 6-5 win over the Cardinals at Marlins Park. Stanton is now tied with two others for the Major League lead with 31 homers. Christian Yelich went 3-for-4 with one RBI and Adeiny Hechavarria plated a run for Miami, which has won three of four. Tom Koehler improved to 8-and-9 with the win and Steve Cishek notched his 30th save. Shelby Miller got tagged for five runs in five innings to fall to 8-and-9 for St. Louis, which has lost four of its last six. Jon Jay belted a two-run shot and Matt Holliday went 4-for-4 and drove in a run in the loss.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Union Senior Pitcher Janna Ruether. Her record is 6-4 with a 4.35 era. Janna has registered 40 strike outs with 33 walks in 37 innings pitched this seaon. As a hitter, Janna is batting .308 with 10 rbi with one double and one triple. Janna has played a major role in Union's run to the Four Rivers Conference Championship this year.

Early Tuesday morning, U.S. fighter jets, armed Predator and Reaper drones, and Navy ships launched airstrike attacks against ISIS, deep within Syria. While it is ironic that it was about a year ago at this time that President Obama was seriously considering strikes against Syrian leader Bashir al-Assad, sometimes threats emerge even greater than the last.
