Lynn Sharp As Cards Cruise Past Reds

The Cardinals scored four times in the sixth inning to back six stellar frames from Lance Lynn in a 5-1 win over the Reds at Busch Stadium. Lynn struck out 10 while allowing just four hits and a walk for the win. Matt Adams' pinch-homer erased a 1-0 deficit for St. Louis. Allen Craig and Carlos Beltran also knocked in runs for the Redbirds.

The Cardinals and Reds play the rubber match of their three-game series this afternoon at Busch Stadium. First pitch is set for 12:45 p.m., with Jake Westbrook slated to oppose Homer Bailey. The Reds won Monday's opener 13-4 before the Cards bounced back last night to win 5-1. Cincinnati is 5-and-3, while St. Louis is 4-and-4.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Gus Kleekamp with the Washington Post 218 Junior American Legion Baseball Team. Gus pitches, plays shortstop and bats third on the Junior Legion team that won the state championship in Blue Springs over the weekend. He posted the save in a 4-3 win over Festus in the title game. His batting average is .400 with 47-rbi and 47 runs scored. As a pitcher, he's 5-0 with an ERA of 1.631 and a WHIP of .961.
