Francis Howell Central 55 Borgia 47. Justin Hayden and Derrick Puni scored 16 apiece for the Spartans while the Knights were led by Zachary Schweissguth with 14 and Joseph Helfrich with 12. Senior guard Jordan Miller was out of the lineup a rib injury. They hope to have him back in uniform later this week. Borgia drops to 6-6 while Howell Central improved to 5-8.
In the other first round game last night, Westminster Christian Academy beat Fort Zumwalt East 73-57.

Salem defeated Sullivan 58-50

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Washington Softball Player Megan Micke. The Junior Shortstop had a terrific start to the season helping the Jays to a second place finish in the Union Tournament Saturday. In three games, Megan had 11 plate appearances, eight official at-bats, four hits, including a double, an rbi, a stolen base with six runs scored, three walks and two strike outs.

None have been as difficult to watch, however, as the annexation battle in Washington--which pitted good people who care about their community against good people who care about their community.

The Blues will open this upcoming NHL season with new jerseys. They unveiled the fresh sweater on Monday night at a packed Ballpark Village. The jerseys will continue to display the Blue Note logo, but the diagonal striping on the sleeves has been straightened for a cleaner look. Training camp begins September 18th.
