Local High School Sports Scoreboard-Monday, May 6

Matt Jones pitched a no hitter with 10 strike outs and one walk leading Borgia to a 10-0 win over the Trinity Titans. The game was called after the fifth due to the 10-run rule. Grant Eckelkamp, Tony Helfrich, Noah Borgerding, Spencer Juergens and Nathanial Hillermann had two hits apiece. Borgia improves to 13-6 while the Titans drop to 14-7.

Sullivan beat Washington 4-2 at Dutzow Park

Pacific shut out Windsor 13-0

Hermann beat New Haven 6-1. Ben Held hit a grand slam for the Bearcats.

Rolla shut out Sullivan 7-0

Union routed Pacific 8-1

Track...
The Washington girls won the title at the GAC Meet at Zumwalt East High School. The Washington JV boys and girls also took first. The Jays brought home a total of 93-medals

Golf...
The Sullivan Eagles won the sectional championship at the Marshfield Country Club with a team score of 305. Gaven Yociss, Ryan Juergens, Drew Armstrong, Justin Biermann, and Tyler Carrico make up the team. All five were at or below the cut line of 80.
Local individual qualifiers are Borgia's Clayton Voss with a 74 and Alex Rennick with an 80. Pacific's Brendan Jett-Kell also made it with an 80.

In Class 4, Washington will send two golfers to state. Colby Schuster shot a one under 70 at The Bluffs Monday while teammate Brad Carpenter finished the day with a five over 76.

In Class 2, two golfers from Hermann qualified. Austin Ruediger with a 77 and Collin Hart with an 83.

State golf championships will be held next week.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Junior Basketball Player Hailey Diestelkamp with the Owensville Dutchgirls. She recently became the all-time scoring leader at Owensville High School surpassing Katie Davis. Hailey played volleyball her first two years of high school, but after suffering an injury playing basketball last summer, she decided to focus on basketball this year. Hailey runs track in the spring.

It came as a shock to a lot of people to find out that the contract for the Union license office, which has been operated by the Union Chamber of Commerce since the 1970's, was being turned over to a for-profit company based out of Jefferson City.

What happened? It's a classic case of two all-too-common phenomena in the world of government--unintended consequences and the revolving door.

Saint Louis erased a nine-point second half deficit and had a shot to win it late, but fell 60-56 against UMass Saturday in a thrilling Atlantic 10 Conference game at Chaifetz Arena. It was the fourth loss in a row for the Billikens, who fall to 9-12 overall and 1-7 in league play. UMass improves to 12-9 overall and 5-3 in the A-10. The Billikens had the ball down by two with the shot clock off.
