Girls Sectional Playoffs...

Class 2-New Haven took down Bismarck 58-26 at Park Hills Central High School. The Lady Shamrocks were led by Rachel Steinhoff with 15 points. Kierstyn Monzyk added 12 and Kayla Meyer eight as New Haven improved to 19-10 on the year. Bismarck ends the season at 10-18. The Indians were led by Darcy Latham with 15 points.
New Haven advances to the quarterfinal to face Neelyville Saturday at 7:45 at the Farmington Civic Center. Neelyville is 22-8.

Class 3-St. James beat Licking 53-35 at Missouri S&T in Rolla. The Lady Tigers will play Ash Grove at Drury University in Springfield Saturday at 7:45.

The season ended for the Hermann Lady Bearcats with a 65-62 loss to North Tech.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Senior Legion Baseball Player Spencer Juergens from Washington Post 218. As a pitcher, Spencer is currently 7-0 with 36 strike outs and only four walks. He's given up seven runs, three earned over 43 innings and his ERA is .736. As a hitter, Spencer's average is .520 with 16 rbi's and 13 runs scored. In 44 official at bats, Spencer has struck out just five times with two walks.

Over the course of the past 16 years doing commentary on air and in print, there have sadly been many mass shootings and many predictable politicized reactions.

The shootings at Emmanuel AME Church in Charleston, South Carolina, however, stands out for two main reasons.

It involved race, and it was done it a church.
