The Washington Blue Jays have lost two straight, falling to Fort Zumwalt South Friday night 55-40. That follows Tuesday's 63-43 set back at the hands of Zumwalt North. The Jays led the Bulldogs 15-9 after one quarter, but were outscored 46-25 the rest of the way to fall to 13-6 overall and 2-2 in the GAC Central. Zumwalt South improves to 13-4 and 3-0. Luke Schroepfer and Ronnie Suggs led the Jays with 12 points apiece. Brad Carpenter added 11. Preston Whitfield paced the Bulldogs with 20.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Senior Volleyball Player Jordan Kriete from St. Francis Borgia Regional High School in Washington. Jordan played all the way around on a team that finished the season 26-7-2. Her statistics are impressive.

If you want to get someone's attention, whisper. That old investment brokerage ad is the opposite of what is going on regarding shootings in Ferguson and Tower Grove. When people threaten violence or blankly label one as a racist, it's very hard to listen. The same holds true for those who sum up the plight of impoverished black communities as "that's how those people are."

The St. Louis Cardinals are exercising the 2015 option on pitcher John Lackey. The 36-year-old right-hander will earn the league minimum 500-thousand-dollars after making 15.25-million each of the last three seasons. Lackey was acquired from Boston at the trade deadline and his contract had a clause allowing for a league-minimum option after missing the entire 2012 season due to elbow surgery.
