Washington beat the Central Spartans for the second time in less than two weeks last night, posting a 12-2 win in seven innings. Jared Walde pitched a complete game with seven-strike outs and four walks. Washington banged out 13-hits lead by Noah Borgerding with a double and two singles. Tony Helfrich, Trent Leimkuehler and Grant Eckelkamp finshed with two hits apiece. Washington improves to 4-2 overall and 4-0 in the 9th District while Central dips to 0-2 both overall and in league play. David Evans suffered the loss.

Washington is off tonight. They will swing back into action Friday evening with a home game against the West Jaguars. Game time is 7:00. It's "Veteran's Appreciation Night" at Ronsick Field. Veterans attending the game will be recognized and will be able to buy one sandwich and get one free at the concession stand.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is State Champion Wrestler Dalton Voyles from Pacific High School. Dalton won the class 3 title at 182 pounds with a 6-2 decision over Zach Courtoise of Kearney Saturday at the University of Missouri-Columbia. It caps off a tremendous season for Dalton with a 56-2 record. Dalton, who is very good on his feet, took control early in the bout in securing the win over Courtoise.

After blowing a 5-2 third period lead, Christopher Higgins scored the winning goal in the shootout to give the Canucks a 6-5 victory over the Blues in Vancouver. Dmitrij Jaskin, Petteri Lindbohm and David Backes scored consecutive goals in the third period to tie the game for the Blues. Ryan Reaves and Alex Pietrangelo also lit the lamp in defeat. Jake Allen allowed four goals and was lifted for Brian Elliot, who allowed one on six shots.
