Freese To Make Second Straight Start Tonight

The promotion of Kolten Wong has pushed Cardinals third baseman David Freese primarily into a bench role, but the 2011 World Series MVP is still getting his shot at playing time. According to the "Post-Dispatch," Freese will start a second straight game tonight after playing last night's game in Milwaukee. Wong had been starting the majority of games at second base, pushing Matt Carpenter to third and Freese to the bench. Manager Mike Matheny says Freese has handled the situation like an absolute pro.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Union Senior Bethany Coons. Bethany finished the basketball season at Union averaging 11 points and eight assists per game. Coach Dusty Weiskopf says Bethany is good at handling the basketball and teams would find it difficult to press Union when Bethany was in the game because of her lateral movement. When combining her scoring and assist averages, Bethany was contributing about 25 points per game.
