Diamondbacks Hire La Russa To Front Office

Tony La Russa is making his return to baseball with the Arizona Diamondbacks. The D'backs have hired the soon-to-be-inducted Hall of Famer as chief baseball officer. He will report to Diamondbacks President Derrick Hall and oversee all baseball operations, working with general manager Kevin Towers and manager Kirk Gibson. La Russa won three World Series titles and six league championships as a manager for 33 years. He will be enshrined in the Hall of Fame in July.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Borgia Freshman Golfer Thomas Alferman. Alferman is a member of the Borgia team that qualified for the state tournament at Silo Ridge in Boliver this week. In the district tournament at the Sullivan Country Club, Thomas shot a 13 over par 84 helping the team to a second place finish.
