Defending Champion Kentucky Falls In NIT Opener

Mike McFadden nailed two free throws with 8.7-seconds left as Robert Morris stunned defending national champion Kentucky 59-57 in the opening round of the National Invitational Tournament. Lucky Jones scored 15 points to pace the Colonials, who will meet either fourth-seeded Providence or number-five Charlotte in round two. Archie Goodwin scored 18 points for the Wildcats, who lost four of their final five games to finish the season 21-and-12. Robert Morris hosted Kentucky as Rupp Arena in Lexington is holding NCAA Tournament games this week.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Freshman Cross Country Runner Julia McIntyre from New Haven High School. Julia finished sixth in the state meet in Jefferson City with a time of 20:58.40 at the Oak Hills Golf Course in Jefferson City earlier this month. She helped her team to a 12th place finish. Julia was a straight A student at Franklin County R-2 and she continues to get A's in high school.
