D'backs Drop Cards In 16th

Cliff Pennington singled home Jason Kubel in the bottom of the 16th inning to give the Diamondbacks a 10-9 win over the Cardinals. Yadier Molina lifted a solo homer and drove in three runs for St. Louis. Daniel Descalso was 4-for-7 with a pair of runs and two RBI. Fernando Salas suffered the loss. The Cardinals head to San Francisco for a series that starts Friday afternoon.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Union Post 297 Senior American Legion Baseball Player Trey Fink. Earlier this season in a game against St. Peters, Trey pitched a complete game with 11 strike outs and no walks in an 8-1 win. He also went the distance in a tough luck 6-1 loss to Washington. He only gave up four hits with 13 strike outs and one walk. Time and again, Trey has proven his ability to go deep into games.

Over the course of the past 16 years doing commentary on air and in print, there have sadly been many mass shootings and many predictable politicized reactions.

The shootings at Emmanuel AME Church in Charleston, South Carolina, however, stands out for two main reasons.

It involved race, and it was done it a church.

Local Senior Legion teams are getting ready for the trip to the 2015 Blue Springs Woodbat Tournament. Washington, Union and St. Charles will compete in the event which will run Wednesday through Sunday at the Hidden Valley Athletic Complex.
